 The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential (PDP) Campaign Council Spokesman, Charles Aniagwu, has reacted to the bullion van comment by the Lagos State Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ayodele Adewale.

Naija News reports that Adewale, during an interview with Arise TV on Thursday, claimed that the bullion van which was spotted going into Tinubu’s residence on the eve of the 2019 presidential election “missed” their “way there.”

Speaking on Adewale’s statement in an interview with Arise TV on Saturday, Aniagwu said that some of the media aides of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu need to go back to school.

He went on to allege that Tinubu claimed that it was nobody’s business if a bullion van entered his house.

According to him, “If you recall the issue of the bullion van which today they are telling us missed its way. I don’t know when the bullion van forgot the location of a bank, because the bullion van is supposed to move within the Central Bank of Nigeria and other commercial banks, but for ‘bullion van persons’ not to understand that Tinubu’s house is not a bank. Including the policemen, and the security men that accompanied that bullion van; all of them missed their way. And they did not even locate my house (instead).

“Tinubu himself had claimed whose business it is if bullion van came to his house. But (that is) to tell you that even his media handlers need to go back to school when the man himself has accepted that it’s none of our business if his house played host to two bullion vans.

“They are now telling us that those bullion van drivers took ogogoro and did not know the direction to their banks and decided to end up at Tinubu’s house.

Buhari extends deadline for old naira notes swap

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) request for the extension of the deadline for swapping of old Naira notes to the redesigned ones.

A seven-day grace period, beginning on February 10 to February 17,2023, has also been approved to enable Nigerians to deposit their old notes at the CBN after the February deadline when the old currency would have lost its Legal Tender status.

“10-day extension of the deadline from

January 31, 2023, to February 10, 2023; to legitimately held by Nigerians and achieve more success in cash swap in our rural communities after which all old notes outside the CBN losses their Legal tender Status.”

Whiile, “A 7-day grace period, beginning on February 10 to February 17,2023, in

compliance with Sections 20(3) and 22 of the CBN Act allowing Nigerians to deposit their old notes at the CBN after the February deadline when the old

currency would have lost its Legal Tender status.”

This followed the President’s meeting with the apex bank’s governor, Godwin Emefiele, in his country home in Daura, Katsina State on Sunday.

Emefiele briefed correspondents after the meeting, revealing that 75 percent of the N2.7 trillion held outside the banking system has been recovered.

He said: “We are happy that so far, the exercise has achieved a success rate of over 75 percent of the N2.7 trillion held outside the banking system. Nigerians in the rural areas, villages, the aged and vulnerable have had the opportunity to swap their old notes; leveraging the Agent Naira Swap initiative as well as the CBN Senior staff nationwide sensitization team exercise.

“Aside from those holding illicit/stolen Naira in their homes for speculative purposes, we do aim to give all Nigerians that have Naira legitimately earned and trapped, the opportunity to deposit their legitimately trapped monies at the CBN for exchange.

“Based on the foregoing, we have sought and obtained Mr President’s approval for the following:

“Our CBN staff currently on mass mobilization and monitoring together with officials of the EFCC and ICPC will work together to achieve these objectives.

“We therefore appeal to all Nigerians to work with the Central Bank of Nigeria to ensure a hitch free the implementation of this very important process for program.”

Obasanjo’s Statement After Meeting Wike In Rivers Emerge

 Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday met with the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.

Nigerianewslite had earlier reported that Governor Wike received Obasanjo and the former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi at his country home in Rumuepirikom, Obio Akpor local government area of the State.

Obasanjo was in the state to speak at the 2023 Port Harcourt International Conference in Port Harcourt which was held at the Dr Obi Wali International Conference Center in Port Harcourt.

The conference was titled, “Deepening Democratic Culture And Institutions For Sustainable Development And Security in Nigeria”.

The former president while speaking at the event condemned the style of political campaigns in the country ahead of the 2023 general election, he called for a change in orientation.

Obasanjo while addressing attendees at the event laments how Nigerians are dragged into the directionless, meaningless and opportunistic personal or narrow ambitions of leaders.

He said, “Political campaigns are taken over by insults, lies, self and selfish interest and diversions, not on issues of national interest and progress. Party platforms are developed, launched with fanfare and promptly discarded.

“Critical issues are discarded as intellectuals and technocrats are sidelined while minions, gatekeepers and job hunters take over the campaign and build iron rings around candidates at all levels. Candidates are caged and milked opportunistically.”

The ex-president noted that politics is not a dirty game, adding that the rules and principles are all there and known to most actors.

The New Date For The Expiration Of The Old Money Is Sacrosanct

 A lot of people have been complaining about the date given to stop making use of the old money as the new money is not gotten after deposit.

The CBN has provided January 31 as the expiration date for the use of the old money, and that the new money has been distributed to all the banks and people are yet to get the new redesigned money.

The CBN maintained that the new redesigned money has been distributed to the various banks in Nigeria, and that any bank that doesn't dispense the new redesigned money should be reported as they have sent delegates that will be monitoring the banks.

That is to say that the bank will be giving the new redesigned money to their customers and to anyone that applies for money, and also individuals are still advised to deposit their old money in order not to loose their money finally. 

Anybody that deposits the old money will receive the new redesigned money during withdrawals, people still complain that when they use the new money to buy anything it will not be accepted in most rural areas.

Maj.-Gen. Musa takes over as new Commander, Nigerian Army Infantry Corps

The Commander of Nigerian Army Infantry Corps, Jaji, Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa

Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa assumed leadership of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps on Friday in Kaduna State at the Headquarters, Infantry Corps Centre Jaji Military Cantonment.

Musa’s assumption as the Infantry Corps Commander followed the recent Nigerian Army redeployment of its officers and men to various units, commands and theatres across the country.

The Corps Commander was posted from Theatre Command North-East Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), where he served as Theatre Commander, before taking over the Infantry Corps from Maj.-Gen. Victor Ezugwu.

Ezugwu, the erstwhile Commander of the Corps, was posted as the Deputy Commandant and Provost of the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Abuja.

Ezugwu, in his address, thanked God and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Farouk Yahaya, for giving him the opportunity to serve as the 15th Commander of the Corps.

Describing the new Commander as a well celebrated General in the Infantry Corps, he said that he had wealth of experience from Theatre Operation Hadin Kai to fall back to in his new assignment as the Infantry Corps Commander.

“I know Musa for a very long time now, he is someone I can vouch for his pedigree to even take the Infantry Corps to greater heights than I did,” he said.

Also, the new Commander, Musa, thanked the Chief of Army Staff for finding him worthy of the appointment.

He said that the dream of every officer, especially the Infantry, was to be the commander of his corps.

“My dream is fulfilled today,” Musa said.

Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, the Assistant Director of Publicity of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, has described Pastor Tunde Bakare of Citadel Global Community Church as an inconsistently unstable person.   

Ajiboye charged Pastor Bakare to steer clear of politics and stick to his pastoral duties because he’s deceitful.

Pastor Bakare, a former APC presidential aspirant, had urged Nigerians to vote out politicians who see the presidency as their entitlement.

Referring to the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu’s comment, ’emi lokan’, which means ‘it’s my turn’, Bakare said it is the turn of frustrated Nigerians.

Responding, Otunba Ajiboye said Bakare should stop arrogating the position of Aristotle of politics to himself.

In a statement he signed, Ajiboye likened Bakare to an “ordinary man on the street without any political clout.”

According to Ajibola, Bakare’s loss at the APC primaries showed that he has “zero personality, zero popularity and zero leadership.”

“This is the same man who deceitfully told the world as if God spoke to him that he was going to be the next President after Buhari, then went into the primaries of the party he belonged to, and nobody could vote for him.

“At some point, he spoke so well about Asiwaju, at another point he will speak against Asiwaju. At some point, he spoke so well about Buhari, when he’s seeing that Buhari is not doing his bidding, he speaks against Buhari. The man is such an inconsistently unstable person, let him just face his business as a clergyman that he’s called to do rather than meddle in politics,” he said

Nigerian Navy Dismisses Officer for Attempted Sodomy,

Nigerian Navy (NN) has sacked Sub Lieutenant V. N. Ukpawanne with service number NN/4440.

Ukpawanne was dismissed for attempted sodomy, use of drugs, controlled substance and disobedience to standing order.

A general court martial demoted him, ordered six-month imprisonment, another six-month imprisonment and one year imprisonment for the offences.

Ukpawanne will be handed over to Sapele Correctional Centre after his medical clearance from the Naval Medical Centre.

Osinbajo ,Buhari Not Supporting Tinubu , APC Governors Insincere - Shettima 2023 Election

There are indications that all is not well within the ruling All Progressives Congress hierarchy ahead of next month general election, the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, president, Yerima Shettima, has opined.

He said the absence of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the APC, rallies and refusal to openly support him is a pointer to the acrimonious situation among high-ranking members of the ruling party.

Shettima said Tinubu does not deserve the kind of treatment he gets from Osinbajo and president Muhammadu Buhari, noting that there could be a crack within the APC ranks.

“It’s very unfortunate that in recent times things have not been going well, however, Tinubu does not deserve what he’s getting from Osinbajo and Buhari; no matter how bad it is, he has paid his dues and has stood by them. He deserves better than the support they are giving to him” Shettima said in an interview with DAILY POST.

“If they are truly with him, they should demonstrate it, and if they are not, then they should openly come out and say so. When Obasanjo was in power, in 2006, we could see his body language on how he worked day and night to stand by Yar’ Adua.

“He had gone out of his way to campaign for the presidential candidate. Even in the absence of the presidential candidate, Obasanjo was moving around campaigning because he was willing to ensure that his successor come into power.

“This one that the president and the vice president are sitting on the fence, even the governors are not sincere.”

“Some of these APC governors are not sincere, that is why it would be difficult for the APC presidential candidate, Tinubu, to rely on these governors, they may disappoint him because theirs is to negotiate even with the opposition.”

Shettima suggested that Tinubu should liaise and be discussing with Nigerians, CSOs, and organizations and not rely on governors.

He said: “Tinubu has less than five governors with him, the others are just supportive. The earlier he moves and changes strategy, the better for him, Kashim Shettima, and APC.

“Shettima should move and do better than he’s doing in the Northern part of this country, people are not feeling his impact. The 2023 elections [campaigns] have gone beyond propaganda.”

He said pointedly: “There is a crack in APC because Osinbajo has never campaigned, he has never gone anywhere.”

He alleged that the body language of Amaechi and Osinbajo, for instance, tells of a crack in APC.

“I’m calling on Tinubu to rise up to the occasion and not to over-rely on those governors but to get down to the people within this short period and see what will happen. If he’s relying on governors he will be shocked at what will happen. He should change strategy and method by ensuring all his followers are on their feet; and for Osinbajo, he has shown that he’s not with Tinubu,” he said

Prominent members of the party including the National Leader of the party who is also the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Board of Trustees Chairman of the Party, Chief Willie Obiano, National Chairman of the Party, Ozonkpu Victor Oye, Wife of the former National Leader of the party, Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, Members of the National Working Committee of the Party,  Director General National Campaign, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu, National and State legislators were in attendance.

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Professor Peter Umeadi was also in attendance at the campaign flag-off.

The large crowd of people with various groups holding posters and banners endorsing their diverse APGA candidates in various states pervaded the place, giving the party a pure National outlook.

Governor Soludo was welcomed to the venue by a tumultuous crowd chanting his praises and even as he rose to speak, he was overwhelmed by the thunderous shout from the huge crowd.

The Governor said that APGA being a true progressive party has come to stay.

He added that the party will continue to deliver on its ideology of Progressivism in all facets of human development and beckoned on Nigerians to support the party. He used the occasion to call for the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained IPOB leader, pleading to stand surety for him if the Federal Government cannot release him unconditionally as directed by the courts

Ozonkpu Victor Oye who presided over the flag-off ceremony which featured the hand over of flags to all the flag bearers stated that the party has grown and will continue to witness growth in incremental proportion, such that due to the deliverables of the party, part of which are being delivered by Governor Soludo, the APGA will outlive everyone.

The National Board of Trustees Chairman of the party and former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano emphasized that APGA has been synonymous with victory all these years and victory in 2023 is certainly not in doubt with everybody's support.

For Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, on her part, described APGA as home and a heritage, adding that the party is development-oriented

The Presidential candidate of the Party, Professor Peter Umeadi recalled how he traversed the entire Country, seeking support to implement his manifesto which he described as "doable", reiterating his belief in a greater Nigeria under APGA, if elected.

While Suraj Owolabi spoke on behalf of the House of Assembly candidates, Ibrahim Alihu Nuhu spoke on behalf of House of Reps Candidates and Hon Dozie Nwankwo spoke on behalf of Senatorial Candidates.

Their statements resonates with one message which is that with the PVCs in hand, the desired change can be activated with the people's vote for the good of all.

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Sani Bello Abubakar has directed security agencies to go after the killers of a Catholic priest of SS Peter and Paul, Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi, at his residence in Kaffin Koro, Paikoro Local Government Area.

Bello, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mrs. Mary Noël-Berje, described the setting ablaze of the Parish Priest as ungodly and inhumane.

He said attacking a religious facility to murder anyone is the worst dimension of terrorist attacks.

The governor explained, “this is a sad moment, for a priest to be killed in such a manner means that we are not all safe, these terrorists have lost it, and drastic action is needed to end this ongoing carnage”.

He urged the security agencies to continue to evolve new strategies that would end the atrocious and barbaric acts, adding that his government will not rest on its oars to ensure that the perpetrators were brought to book.

While commiserating with the Christian community, especially the Catholic Church, over the ugly incident, the governor prayed for the quick recovery of the injured Rev. Father, who was also shot at by the bandits while trying to escape.

He then enjoined the people to remain calm as the government would continue to do its best to secure the lives and livelihoods of the people

Shiite Muslim leader Ibrahim El-Zakzaky has denied reports alleging that he endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi, or any other of the candidates vying for the presidency in February.

This comes after a viral report speculated that the cleric had endorsed Obi following the several high profile endorsements of LP flag bearer by former president Olusegun Obasanjo and Edwin Clark, a Niger Delta leader.

The post also allegedly urged 8 million Shiite Muslims to get their Personal Voters Card so as to vote for Peter Obi at the 2023 presidential poll.

Speaking about the development, one of the cleric’s lawyers, Marshall Abubakar (of the Falana & Falana Chambers) told newsmen that the purported endorsement of Obi or any other presidential candidate is fake news.

He also confirmed that “some presidential candidates” have approached the cleric for endorsement.

He added that his client believes that the ongoing presidential campaign lacks ideology that would move the nation forward.

“That is fake news.. I can confirm you that there is nothing of such… though some presidential candidates have reached out to him, but he has refrained from endorsing any of them because he believes the 2023 presidential contest is bereft of ideological leaning,” Marshal stated

A retired Nigerian Army Brigadier General JTE Chukwu has passed away.

The former Director of Army Public Relations gave up the ghost on Thursday in his residence in Abuja.

Chukwu was named the spokesperson of the military arm in February 2018 when Lieutenant General Tuku Buratai was the Chief of Army Staff.

He succeeded Brigadier General Sani Usman, who proceeded to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Plateau.

Until the appointment as DAPR, Chukwu was the Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Public Relations (NASPRI) in Lagos State.

The tufty child was born to the unnamed mother at CHC Bawan in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. Even though the baby’s birth went through without a hitch, the baby’s 60% of his body was covered in dark hair, according to Jam Press. The startling photos show thick hair covering the baby’s back. However, the infant’s condition originally perplexed the local medical team.

Keyamo React As Edwin Clark Endorses Peter Obi Succeed Buhari In 2023

Festus Keyamo, spokesman for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has reacted to former Federal Commissioner for Information and South-South Leader Edwin Clark’s endorsement of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi.

WITHIN NIGERIA previously reported that Clark declared his support for the former Anambra State Governor on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

He made the statement today while speaking to journalists at his Asokoro Residence in Abuja. Obi, he claims, will unite and restructure the country if given the chance.

He went on to say that the next President of the country should be educated and experienced, and that the South East should be allowed to produce the next President because the zone has the resources and education to govern the country.

Fetus Keyamo responded on Twitter, saying that the endorsement has no effect on the APC because Clark has never supported the party for president since 2015.
