Nyesom Wike: I’ve no plan to leave PDP

After speculations that Wike would be Atiku Abubakar's choice running mate, it was announced yesterday that Ifeanyi Okowa was the approved choice.

Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has urged members of the public to ignore a viral video suggesting that he has a plan to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Governor, who described the video as manipulated, said it was part of an interview he granted in June 2021 when his Ebonyi counterpart, Dave Umahi, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike, in a statement by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, said the excerpt of the interview was deliberately manipulated and doctored by unscrupulous persons with evil agenda.

The statement said: “Our attention has been drawn to a manipulated video circulating on social media, purporting that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike intends to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“It will be recalled that in June 2021, Governor Wike was interviewed on Arise Television, following the defection of Ebonyi State governor, Dave Umahi from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“During the interview, Governor Wike while reacting to reason given by Ebonyi State governor for his defection, dismissed it as untenable.

“The excerpt of the interview in circulation has been deliberately manipulated by some desperate and unscrupulous persons with obnoxious agenda. The intent of the video being circulated is to mislead the unsuspecting public, particularly members of the PDP. We, hereby urge the public to disregard the manipulated video.

“Governor Wike has repeatedly maintained that he will never under any circumstances defect from the PDP, which has offered him the platform to excel in his political career.

“We urge the public to ignore the distorted video. Those behind it are desperately wicked and intend to mislead the public. Governor Wike remains a faithful, committed member of the PDP and will never leave it for cancerous APC.”

After speculations that Wike would be Atiku Abubakar's choice running mate, it was announced yesterday that Ifeanyi Okowa was the approved choice.

You Are An Embodiment of Empathy And Fairness - Emeka Igwe Tells Ekwunife

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Awka North and South federal constituency, Hon Emeka Igwe has described the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, as a leader with conscience. He stated that Ekwunife is an embodiment of empathy and fairness.

Hon Igwe said this while addressing stakeholders of the party during the Anambra Central PDP Stakeholders meeting last Saturday.

Igwe described the election that produced him as the party's candidate as a testimony of Ekwunife's pragmatic leadership of the zone. He further stated that Anambra PDP would experience unprecedented growth with leaders like Ekwunife who places the people's interest first.

"Distinguished Senator, I want to personally thank you for allowing party members in the zone choose their candidates without any external or undue influence. The ward delegates congresses that produced the delegates that voted in the primary elections were one the most transparent I've seen in my political career", Igwe said.

Hon Igwe's words were in consonance with the statements earlier made by a former member of House of Representatives, Hon Charles Odedo who served with Ekwunife in the 6th and 7th National Assembly.

Hon Odedo in his remarks stated that he chose to throw his weight behind Ekwunife because he witnessed the Senator's pragmatic and people-centred approach to leadership while she was their caucus leader in the House of Representatives and was more than convinced that Ekwunife if re-elected will continue to offer the people of the Senatorial District unmatched representation.

I HAVE NO SYMPATHY FOR TINUBU AND AMAECHI.

NIGERIANEWSLITE

I HAVE NO SYMPATHY FOR TINUBU AND AMAECHI.

When Tinubu started his moves to support Buhari after 3 failed attempts to get back to power in 2014,Pa Adebanjo elaborately lectured Tinubu on the danger of the  course of action he was taking.

He told Tinubu not to trust Buhari. That Buhari is part of the irredentists extremists Northern power block that believes on thier wing of the North being  in power in Nigeria in perpetuity.

Pa Adebanjo told Tinubu that this power block of the North betrayed Awolowo, jailed him and disgraced other Yoruba leaders.

They did the same to Abiola. They would do the same thing with him. Tinubu did not listen.

I have no sympathy for Tinubu or Amaechi.

Amaechi used the funds of his people to betray them and promote the interests of the enemies of his people.

Amaechi danced on the grave of Chief Melford Obiene Okilo,a doged fighter for the  Minority cause in Nigeria.

Amaechi thought he will be a better slave,by betraying his people and working for thier enemies.

He refused to listen to Okilo's former personal physician, who later became governor of Rivers State,Peter Odili.

Amaechi's grass to grace story began with Odili, who made him a member of the Rivers State House Of Assembly from been a nobody.

Odili hoisted him on the Rivers people as a speaker for 8 years and then made him gov.

Amaechi, bitten by the Olighacic bug, betrayed Odili, betrayed his people, betrayed his own president and worked with Tinubu to dethrone Jonathan, his fellow Rivers man,who later moved to Bayelsa State. But Jonathan's  wife,Faka,is from Rivers State.

Tinubu and Amaechi have been used and dumped. They were all warned. These are the arrowheads of the wasted 8 years Nigeria has had since 1960. I can name all of them one by one,but I live you with that to name as an assignment.

Non of them will be president. And all of them will be so utterly disgraced that, they may end up in jail, just like Awolowo and Abiola did.

That is the price of thinking that the enemies of your people will be your best friends.

What this 2 with thier followers have led Nigeria through, will take more than 50 years to undo. But the impact on them will start by Monday.

For those who don't know,I don't believe neither Tinubu nor Amaechi nor thier followers are smart people.

Smart people learn from thier history, learn from thier environment and listen to thier elders.

And so let the abuse start. Of course Tinubu will start it. Amaechi will soon follow.

In all this,it is the Nigerians that I again, will blame. Why do you think a good thing will Come from a bad thing? Why do you think thieves, criminals, betrayers, will not be what they are; thieves, criminals, betrayers

Let's  not forget that there are 2 Northern power blocks, according to Dr Edwin Madunagu.

Madunagu in his several published works on Nigeria's Political history and struggle for power analysed clearly these 2 power blocks.

The Liberal and progressive Northerners who will do everything for the unity and progress of Nigeria.

This is the power block of Mallam Saidu Zungur, the first Hausa man to go to school in the south,Yabatech,Lagos.

Zungur would later radicalize his student Aminu kano, with whom they formed What would later be NPC.

Disagreements with the Saudauna and his followers on principles, made Zungur to form NEPU where he brought in his student, Mallam Aminu Kano to head.

The followers of Saidu Zungur and  Aminu kano are still fighting the battle for the liberation of the Talakawas  that they started in the 50s upto date.

This is the Progressive North that any serious Southerner will work with to to get power.

Then the Irredendists extremists northerners, who will do everything to ensure the North retains power just for the sake of being in control, who will use religion, culture and any negativity to retain power.

The latter North is what Tinubu and Amaechi helped foist on the whole Country.

Buhari was rejected  several times by the former North. But Tinubu and Amaechi naively, deceived Nigerians into putting it in power. The consequences are here for everybody to see.

How will the people remove this worse section of the North from power and reposition Nigeria unto the road of recovery?

My next intervention will proffer the way foward after a presidential candidate has emerged from the APC,hoping,he will not be part of this same North.

Peter Obi’s acceptance speech as labour candidate.

Let Us Return Nigeria to Their Rightful Owners

I thank Nigerians; especially members of the Labour Party who have gathered here since yesterday to partake in the primaries to choose the person that will fly Labour flag in the forthcoming National election to choose the President of Nigeria.

History beckons. Nigerians remain hopeful for a national rebirth, which implies returning Nigeria to Nigerians –   farmers, teachers and students, lecturers, artisans, workers, pensioners and over a hundred million poor Nigerians who are not sure where their next meal will come from.

Therefore, what you are doing today is a patriotic duty towards seeking the desired political emancipation of our dear country, which stands wounded by many years of cumulative leadership failure.

Painfully, our current dysfunctional system rewards unearned income and conspicuous consumption; allows university lecturers to remain on strike for months; keep our youths at home; and owe pensioners, who gave their patriotic sweat and their youthful energy to serve this country.

The despicable contrast is that those responsible for the mess -those elected to take care of them - have abandoned the national currency and are living in opulence and like kings, spend dollars to buy delegates as well as houses all over the world.Meanwhile, they owe most workers, lecturers and retirees.

Yes, our country stands hijacked by forces of retrogression. We are almost zero in all indices of development. As a result, our future, especially those of the youth and generations unborn is in ruins. We have become a laughing stock among other nations, including African countries where we were once revered.

As a party that represents the workers and masses of this great nation, we are people organised and working for our economic rebirth.  As I am nominated today, I humbly proclaim that the journey towards the emancipation of the country has begun.

I note with humility that the journey is going to be a collective one that will certainly require the cooperation of critical stakeholders in our country, especially the youth, whose future has been thoroughly degraded.

I therefore thank all of you and call for your sustained support towards returning Nigeria to Nigerians from forces of bad leadership and retrogression. Such a noble tasks brooks no conscientious objectors.

I hardly use war metaphors for political analysis due to my belief that politics is not adversarial and not war. However permit me a little indulgence here, to relate what we are embarking on to the ancient battle of Thermopylae, where the Greek forces, conscious of fighting for the life of Greece held on against great odds in the defence of their country.

In the battle to re-take Nigerian, the odds are great and seemingly insurmountable, but with our commitment, patriotism and understanding that we are doing, what we are supposed to do for our country, lest she shall die, we shall move on discontent with what is and focused on enthroning what ought to be. In doing this, our battle cry shall remain: get your PVC and become part of this great libration!

Our governance mission will be twin-tracked. Secure Nigeria in every ramification: national security, human security, food security and tackling insecurity created by unemployment.

We will also seek to unite our nation by pulling our people out of poverty, and creating a new sense of nationalism and patriotism. Nigeria shall rise again: and her people will be proud to claim ownership of her patrimony. Doing so is in our collective national interest.

As I earnestly thank Nigerians for their faith in me. In the days ahead I will publish our governance manifesto, which will spell out our top governance priorities.  I assure you that no region; state, local government or communities will be left behind.

I also assure you all that the struggle continues and that victory is certainly in sight towards the guarantee of a meaningful future for our youths and making this country a respected and viable member of a 21st century world, that places high value on production over consumption.

God bless you all and God bless Nigeria.

Peter Obi
