Russia's Threat Of Nuclear Weapons Is An Act Of Desperation

 Nigerianewslite

Russia's threat of nuclear weapons is an act of desperation. It is mobilizing 300,000 men by conscription, which means the Russian regular army cannot defeat Ukraine. NATO was smart. It refused to declare a fly zone so that I would not have a confrontation with Russia, but it gave Ukraine advanced surface-to-air missiles that make flying into Ukrainian airspace a suicide mission.

Without aerial superiority, Russia is on level terms with Ukraine. Ukraine has turned the tide against Russia because of eight Himars multiple rocket launchers given to its fighters by the United States, States with a promise of more to come. This has enabled Ukraine’s military to go more on the offensive. Instead of being forced into retreat by Russian artillery, Ukrainians are now destroying ammunition depots, radar, artillery positions, and warships,s and killing thousands of Russian soldiers, some of them generals.

It is a proxy war Russia fighting against NATO, specifically the United States. Russia is a small fly to the American military. Putin is digging a deep hole for himself. He can't be president forever and there is time to face international criminal court for war crimes. He has forgotten history so soon.

Putin cannot be stronger than, and more dangerous than Hitler nor charismatic enough to bank on Russians' support for his audacious ambition. Russia can't annex Ukraine under the current international order. If America can kill the Soviet Union why won't Russia be wary of the world's only superpower

There is God oooo

the deteriorating bridge on the Bida-Minna Road has finally collapsed

Nigerianewslite

Approximately 23 kilometres from Bida and 60 kilometres from Minna, the deteriorating bridge on the Bida-Minna Road has finally collapsed at Sagamio Farms, cutting off the two largest towns in Niger State.

It was discovered that the state’s recent five days of heavy rain were to blame for the bridge’s collapse.

It was learned that the water flowing under the bridge is one of the tributaries of River Niger that has overflowed its banks as a result of the rains

“The bridge collapsed totally on Sunday. Consequently, commuters plying the Minna-Bida Road are stranded as you can see,” a villager, Ismaila Abubakar said.

A commuter stranded on the road, Mohammed Aliyu told LEADERSHIP that “Most vehicles coming from the Ilorin-Mokwa-Jebba axis and Minna, unaware of the development, are now trapped at the spot. We have been here the whole day.

Attempt to get Ministry of Works to speak on the development proved abortive, but a source said they are determined to find immediate solution.

It would be recalled that the contract for the road was earlier awarded by the state government for reconstruction but was listed among the roads to be reconstructed by the federal government through the NNPC Road infrastructures intervention scheme, however work on the road has stopped.

The 2023 Presidential Election Is Not For Igbo President But For Nigerian President - IMO Governor

Nigerianewslite

The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has said that the 2023 presidential election is going to be centered on electing a leader that will serve the interests of all Nigerians, and not about electing an Igbo President. He stated this during a recent interview on Channels Television's Politics Today.

Uzodinma made the statement while answering questions on what he thinks about the 2023 election, and if he thinks that the presidential candidate of his party, Bola Tinubu, will win the forthcoming election.

The Imo State Governor said that he has done well as a governor, and that his achievements will win supporters for his party in Imo state during the elections.

He said - "The presidential election is an election for Nigerian President, not for Igbo President."

In recent times, discussions on Igbo Presidency have been gaining momentum on social media, and some stakeholders and interest groups believe that Igbos should be given a chance to produce the next President in the interest of fairness and equity. Even though none of the two major political parties in the country - APC and PDP - fielded an Igbo candidate for the 2023 election, the emergence of Peter Obi as the flag bearer of the Labour Party seemed like a burst of hope for those who have been pushing for Igbo presidency.

But Governor Hope Uzodinma has reiterated that the election is not going to be about Igbo presidency, and that his responsibility is to convince the people of his state to vote for his party.

What do you have to say about this statement from Hope Uzodinma? Feel free to share your thoughts with us.

The Death Of Queen Elizabeth 11

 Nigerianewslite

Queen Elizabeth II has died at 96. She was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch in history.

She has witnessed:

 World War II,

 Cold War,

 The independence of British colonies,

The collapse of the Soviet Union,

 9/11 attacks,

 Brexit,

The death of the Soviet Union’s final leader Mikhail Gorbachev (last week),

The rise of China and India (India surpassed the UK to be the world’s 5th largest economy this week).

And what else?

She became Queen on 1952 at the age of 26, at a time when the Cold War began. Her coronation ceremony was the first to be broadcast live on television. Over 27 million people in UK watched the ceremony.

At a time when the British Empire’s global influence declined amid decolonization after World War II, she helped build “special relationships” between the UK and its former territories or colonies by founding the Commonwealth of Nations. Countries like South Africa and India remained in the special ties with the UK for decades, and countries like Canada, Australia, and New Zealand accept Queen Elizabeth as their head of state.

In 1980s, over 40 countries, formerly part of the British Empire, have gained independence during the queen’s reign. Most of them did not recognize Queen as their head of state.

In late 1984, the UK agreed to return Hong Kong to China beginning July 1, 1997.

In 1986, Elizabeth became the first British monarch to visit the Chinese mainland. She toured in Xi’an’s army of terracotta warriors, climbed the Great Wall in Beijing, and visited Kunming, Guangzhou, and Shanghai.

The Queen is the best travelled monarch. She has travelled over 1,032,513 miles as Queen, equivalent to 42 journeys around the entire circumference of the Earth.
