CBN Policy There is Only One Candidate Who Has The Record Of Moving Money On Election

A member of the Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign council, Ilemona Onoja has reacted to the recent policy of the apex bank, where he pointed out that there is only one candidate capable of moving a huge amount of money when it comes to election period like this.

Onoja who spoke on channels television said he prefers not to mention anybody's name, but that every Nigerian possibly knows who he is referring to, as the candidate has a track record of facilitating this kind of moves.


He said... "There is only one candidate of the party who has ever had a track record of moving like that on election day, there's only one candidate of any political party, and we know who that is without calling names"


Recall that the Central Bank Of Nigeria had revealed a new policy in the banking system where Nigerians and corporate bodies will be limited to a maximum withdrawals per week at 100,000 Naira and 500,000 Naira respectively, and this is however coming just few months to the much anticipated elections.

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan Reacts To CBN 100, 000 Naira Weekly Withdrawal Limit Policy

The Central Bank of Nigeria recently disclosed that Nigerian Individuals will only be allowed to withdraw the sum of 100,000 naira weekly from their bank accounts via POS, ATM and over the counter withdrawals. The new policy, according to the CBN, will take effect in January 2023.


However, the Senate President of Nigeria, Ahmad Lawan, during plenary on Wednesday, 7th of December 2022 has cautioned the apex bank not to rush into the policy as it will have a negative effect on many Nigerians.


In the report on Channels Television News, the Senate Minority Leader, Phillip Aduda in a point of order during plenary on Wednesday raised the issue as he complained of the hardship the policy will bring to Nigerians.


While responding to Phillip Aduda, Ahmad Lawan revealed that there is the need for them to engage the CBN in discussions to get more information about the policy.


He has also directed the committee on banking to discuss the issue during the screening of the CBN Deputy Governors in a few days' time.
