Retirement

1. one day you will retire; You won't be going to work. You won’t have office power any more. No influence or at best, a reduced influence. Your cash flow will also reduce.! Check retirement date on your payslip.

2. Always  go for your 30days annual leave;
Whatever you do during your leave, is what you will be doing when you retire. If all you do is to sleep or watch TV, then that’s what you are likely do do in your retirement. Remember the book of Proverbs. A little sleep and a little slumber, so shall your poverty multiply.
Watching Big Brother Naija will not save you heartache in retirement. Learn a trade or a skill during your leave. It will come handy. Spend your after-office hours learning something. Don’t spend it sleeping, Gossiping, watching TV!! Same goes for your weekend. Make them productive. You will thank yourself for spending your time productively.

3. Invest for your retirement; your children are not retirement investment. Don’t bank on your children’s support or the support of friends or relations. That’s a BIG risk. It may not happen. Be ready to take care of yourself!! Everyone has his own responsibilities. They won’t be able to help you that much. You will also lose your dignity and respect if you adopt a life of begging.

4. Start a hobby; early in your working days to take you along when you retire. Rearing chicken, farming or own a shop. Acquire marketable skills ( not useless paper certificates) Etc

5. Where shall you retire; Build yourself a home. Don't retire and start to rent a house or refuse to vacate government house. You will be at the mercy of your landlord at a time when your cash flow is not only reduced but unpredictable!!

6. Who shall be your dependants; By the time you retire, your children should be above 18, and self reliant.

7. Don't retire and stay in a big city; unless you can TRULY afford it. You can't continue living in a big city after 60 with limited financial resources. The language and the hustle will be hard for you. Where possible, Relocate to a less expensive town where your reduced take home (pension) can go further.

8. Have property which can be rented or converted into cash; Have shares that pay good dividends. Plant cash trees. Rear goats, cultivate vegetables etc. these activities will not only give you income but will also keep you healthy.

9. Live a simple life; If you never built a house at your rural home, don't use your retirement package to build. It is unwise unless you plan to live there on a permanent basis or you are super rich and therefore can afford the luxury. The choice is yours.

Note that many of retirees die early because of the following.

1. They are Not mentally prepared to retire.
2. Lack of finances
3. They Lapse into Depression
4 They develop Hypertension/ Diabetes because of worries, anxiety and uncertainty "and financial pressures.

YOUR DESK AT YOUR WORK PLACE IS NOT PERMANENT. PLAN  FOR YOUR RETIREMENT. Pls forward to people who u feel can learn from this now.

There was this poor man who wrote a book at the age of 40 and decided to launch it on his Birthday.

THOSE WHO CROWN KINGS DO NOT LOOK LIKE KINGS ; BEWARE !!!

There was this poor  man who wrote a book at the age of 40 and decided to launch it on his Birthday.

He had no money to fund the launching and so, he decided to seek help from a millionaires in his community.

He made a visit to the Millionaires home and after they exchanged pleasantries, he told his host what brought him.

The Millionaire told him to take out a piece of paper and pen.
He said, " I will give you a test. If you pass it, I will give you the money you need and if you fail, I will still give you the money"

He then told him to write down the names of 10  people who could give him 10k each for his book during the launch.

Surprisingly, the man could not write even 3 names.

Now, take a glass of water and let me tell you something..

It is not enough to have talent and skills. You must understand the power of building valuable relationship.

It was a wise man that said, your network is directly proportional to your net worth.

 Relationship is a currency

Relationship is a stream of income. Everything in this life actually reproduces on the basis of relationship.

See eh, Who likes you in this life matters.

Men are lifted through men.

Many of us are talented but we lack a cup bearer to tell the King that there is a Joseph that can interpret  dreams.

Who you know matters a lot in this life.Don't say it doesn't matter. It does.

There are heights and opportunities you will never attain if you don't understand the power of Keeping Valuable Relationships.

When they say, turn and greet your neighbour in church/mosque at times, you don't even know who you are talking to.

That  might be the CEO of a company. But sometimes, we despise people based on their outward looks and judge them wrongly.

Have this wisdom am sharing with you.

That person you sit with in class, or the colleagues at work that you look down on, may be the ones that will lead you to your destiny helper because you have no idea who they know.

Sometimes, it takes just a recommendation to change your story.

Don't despise men in Life. You will need them one day.

Sometimes those who crown Kings don't look like kings and may never become kings but they can help you wear the crown.

Again

Shut the door of relationship gently you may need to use it tomorrow

Have a fruitful week

THE SYNERGY AND STRATEGY THAT IS NEEDED FOR US TO ENTHRONE THE RIGHT LEADERSHIP IN ANAMBRA STATE AS THE FORTHCOMING GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION NEARS.

THE SYNERGY AND STRATEGY THAT IS NEEDED FOR US TO ENTHRONE THE RIGHT LEADERSHIP IN ANAMBRA STATE AS THE FORTHCOMING GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION NEARS.

In today's world, the concept of leadership confronts enormous challenges, opportunity and possibilities. It's appropriate to understand that leadership as a concept is vital to organizations, and societies. It harnesses, combines and manages men and resources to achieve specified goals

Ever since Senator Uche Ekwunife made known her intention to contest for the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra state,  there have been torrents of positive reactions trailing her declaration from within and outside the state. In fact, all the media outlets viz, the electronic, print and social media have become awash with messages of solidarity as well as a glowing testimonies to an astute leadership guru and honourable politician whose services to humanity through the political offices she had occupied in the past and currently occupies, speaks eloquently of her rare personality. The rapturous ovation which her declaration had generated is well in tune with an Igbo adage which says that "when a big masquerade steps into the arena, the ambience goes agog".

It's as clear as the day that Senator Uche Ekwunife has long assumed the status of a political gladiator who need no introduction in Anambra politics. This is so because an average Anambrarians have grown to possess an idea of what good governance entails which they can always loosely encapsulate within the concept of provision of good road networks, safe water supply, good security architecture, and creation of job opportunities.

The treacherous attitude of some of our political elites and their failure to serve the interests of the masses with their political offices have helped in no small measure in increasing our appreciation of good governance. This explains the reason our people never hesitate to identify  with whoever that totally offers him/herself to the service of the people just like we are currently witnessing in the case of Senator Uche Ekwunife.

It's quite unfortunate that over the years the Nigerian political landscape has been populated with some bad elements whose rascality in the corridors of power seem to promote the erroneous impression that politics is a dirty game while it is not the politics that is bad rather it's some of the people who are elected to political offices. We live in a society where persons who are elected to political offices believe and behave as if the citizens are their servants and they are the master.

Compounding this is that these politicians are not psychologically prepared to accept that ours is a country governed by the principle of representative democracy which in itself requires a level of accountability. Ignoring this fundamental principle is to ignore that the people of Anambra state have evaluated and appraised the performance of the present Government in the state and found it to be extremely wanting in many aspects.

From Awka to Onitsha, and from Nnewi to Ekwulobia, what the good people of Anambra state is clamouring for is a political leadership that is prepared to respect the people, respond to their needs and desires and deliver within the constitution and laws of the land, buttressed by civil conducts. That is why Iyom's declaration had come at the right time because Anambra state is in dire need of redemption from the crass inefficiency and the maladministration of the present government in the state which have run the state aground, leaving it stuck in the mire of retardation and retrogression in the past six years. What a pity!

However, for us to be able to actualize our desire to have the right leadership in Anambra state we need to get our acts together as a people. One half of knowing What you want is knowing what you must give up before you get it.

First and foremost, leadership of PDP both at the federal and in the state should arise above any sentiment that is overtly or covertly biased against female gender especially during their primary election. A level playing ground should be extended to all the eligible contestants while ensuring there is eternal democracy within every strata of the party.
Then we the good people of Anambra state are expected to shun the tendencies of allowing ourselves to be bought over by  corrupt politicians who have no intention to better our lots. We should maintain the robust support which we have been giving to our amiable and indefatigable queen mother, daughter and inimitable archiver Senator, Uche Ekwunife both now and on the dey of election of election.

Like Eleanor Roosevelt had once stated: "One thing I believe profoundly, we make our history. The course of history is directed by choices we make and our choices grow out of the ideas, the beliefs, the values, and the dreams of the people.

Why I Conceded Defeat

Why I Conceded Defeat

I was fully informed about the manipulations, intrigues, intimidation and betrayals. The consequences of not conceding were only better imagined. My natural instinct for peace automatically surfaced. I was going to make a decision which reflected my commitment to that ideal. This is the foundation of my essence. In my periodic projections into the future, I did not see how I would be presiding over any kind of chaos. I was prepared to promote the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.

This is a huge sacrifice, but I hope my readers believe me when I say it turned out to be one of the easiest decisions I ever took while in office.

With my mind made up, I knew it was time to inject peace into the tensed polity, especially before INEC completed collation.

I was in my living room with some ministers, aides and friends. Among them were the Coordinating Minister for the Economy/Honourable Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Mr. Osita Chidoka and Waripamowei Dudafa, my Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs..

They were recommending sundry alternatives, but I was quiet in the midst of their discussion. I hugged my thoughts, figuring out how to do that which was best for the country. My personal interest was receding rapidly and the interest of Nigeria looming large. I excused myself and left the sitting room. I walked into my study. Even here, my mantra was a strong circle around me, supporting and comforting me. Let the country survive. Let democracy survive. My political ambition is not worth people being ‘soaked in blood’.

More reports flowed in and I could not wait anymore. The announcement of the final result could take issues out of all our hands. It was time for me to take action and bring peace to the nation. I felt I was destined by God at that point in time to inject the peace serum and douse the palpable tension in the country.

I reached for the telephone and placed a call through the State House operators at about 4:45 pm. A peace I had never felt since my political sojourn, descended on me. It showed me where I had been in the past 16 years and where I was then. I smiled at the thought of what I was about to do. I waited calmly for the person at the other end of my call to answer.

Buhari : Hello Your Excellency!

Me : Your Excellency, how are you?

Buhari: I am alright, Your Excellency

Me: Congratulations!

Buhari: Thank you very much Your Excellency …

For several seconds the line was seized by the loudest silence I have ever known. Then we had a brief discussion. I could sense his relief too. He knew what could have been.

Here is a man who had contested three times and lost. Maybe my gesture humbled him against his expectations because he thanked me and we talked about the handing over processes.

Everywhere all over Africa, Asia and other parts of the world, countless deaths have been recorded on the scores of elections and power disputes. I mentioned Cote d’Ivoire earlier, where people died in their thousands during post election violence. A similar scenario had unfolded in Kenya. African nations are more prone to post election violence than other parts of the world.

Only very few African nations have not experienced post election violence on a very grand scale or some bitter power tussle fed by tribal or ethnic sentiments.

“I hung up the phone, confident that my decision was right for Nigeria and would probably have a great impact on Africa. This may well be the beginning of a new perspective to power; a perspective which places national interest above personal preference. It should not always be about winning.

After my conversation with Muhammadu Buhari, which lifted my spirit greatly, I felt better and lighter; it was time to break the news to my Ministers and aides. I wandered back into the living room. These are people I came to know after a period of time. I anticipated what their response would be.

In my new found calm, I stood before them and told them what I had just done. The elections were over. I had called and congratulated Muhammadu Buhari on his victory. It was time for all of us to move on.
Stunned silence greeted the room for some time and after they overcame their shock, they all congratulated me.

My Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, sought my permission to tweet my phone conversation with Muhammadu Buhari. I obliged and he did. The country was no longer waiting for the declaration of the election results. The nationwide tension automatically dissipated as though a red hot piece of iron had been dipped in a bowl of water.’’ -
