Why I Cleared Inherited N35 billion Unpaid Pension, as Anambra Governor – Obi

Why I Cleared  Inherited N35 billion Unpaid Pension, as Anambra Governor – Obi

Former Governor of Anambra State and Vice Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the last elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has revealed that he was touched to pay off an accumulated pension and gratuity debt of N35 billion, which he inherited from the previous administration, because of the sufferings of the elderly people who were being denied their rights.

Obi who made the revelation in an online event titled “Politics 101 with Peter Obi”, said the pains and lamentations of the elderly people, who had served the state in various capacities, but were not yet accorded their due financial rights, were what motivated him to pay off the inherited debt. Coupled with his Christian belief that a labourer deserved his just wage, Obi said he could not watch them suffer and cry without ‘doing something about their plight’.

Narrating a particular experience that cemented his resolve to pay off the inherited debt, Obi told of his encounter with an 80 year old woman in the church where he had gone to pray.

He said “One faithful day I went to church to pray. As a matter of personal policy, I do not allow my security men into the church with me because I know God is the Ultimate protector and we are all one before God. As I knelt down in prayer, an 80 year old woman, Mrs Ndibe, of blessed memory, came and snatched my bible. She began to lament that she, just like many others, had not been paid her pensions and gratuity. She said God will not answer my prayers unless I paid them.

“I wanted to book a private appointment with her to discuss her complaints, she refused. Paying the accumulated gratuities and pensions was the only thing she wanted. I later paid her a visit in her house and we discussed further. She told me stories of her pains that moved me to tears. She recounted all she had passed through because she had not been paid her gratuity and pensions”.

Obi said that singular experience opened his eyes to many untold stories of men and women who were in the same shoes with late Mrs Ndibe. He instantly did all his best to clear off the debts.

Warning against denying people their due wages in life, Obi said it was inhuman for one to refuse to pay another who had worked meritoriously for them. He described the refusal to pay pensions and gratuity, as and when due, as an act of wickedness.

Obi also encouraged politicians and public office holders to always give listening ears to the plights of their people stating that every elected candidate was meant to serve and not to be served.

CORRECTING THE WRONG "MALE IMPRESSION" AND SALVAGING THE FUTURE OF ANAMBRA STATE... A SUPPORT FOR SENATOR UCHE EKWUNIFE AS THE NEW PARADIGM

CORRECTING THE WRONG "MALE IMPRESSION" AND SALVAGING THE FUTURE OF ANAMBRA STATE... A SUPPORT FOR SENATOR UCHE EKWUNIFE AS THE NEW PARADIGM

    BY OBALLUM GEORGE

The result of decades of unchallenged but dysfunctional notion on the role and restricted domain of women involvement in Anambra politics, seems to have been reenacted, reinvigorated and sold out by some politically fearful aspirants in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.

While I may not rephrase the obnoxious and callously sponsored rhetorics, it is instructive to note that nature has endowed men and women with equal but diverse potentials, whose development, nurturing and applications depend on the individual so endowed.

The uncivil, archaic and empirically unsupported argument on the 'maleness' of the office of the Governor of Anambra state is the latest joke being peddled, propagated and spread by some hungry, bread seeking and disillusioned chauvinists as the only basis for the continuation of the poor governance meted out to ndi Anambra by the successive male dominated administrations.

Perhaps, ndi Anambra can recall the audacity, brilliance and delivery by some female Federal appointees from our dear state in particular and Igbol land in general. The gender prejudices being championed as their major resort can not be sustained any longer amongst the forward thinking ndi Anambra, who earnestly seek a non-gender based leadership in the efforts to resuscitate the comatose and debt-strained economy of the state.

Distinguished Senator UCHE EKWUNIFE (IYOM) represents this yearning by the distressed, traumatised and development deprived people of Anambra state. The grass root people who have been alienated from government due to the non conduct of the local government elections, the wonderful and brilliant youths whose survival opportunities have been truncated by bad leadership in Anambra, the elderly men and women, who have been forgotten and relegated,  are no longer interested in whether a woman is the Governor but for good governance to be restored to our afflicted state.

It is time to incorporate our native and traditional believe in our women as mothers into the political space, particularly for the governorship seat. An average man can entrust total governance of his family to the able and secured hands of his wife or mother with such assurance that can baffle even the creator. Men believe that women and mothers have special role bequeathed to them in the management of whatever that is within their care.

This is the testament to the leadership and administrative traits which the Almighty endowed women with and which can be explored and exploited rightly for the overall good of ndi Anambra in our quest to change the ugly political and governance status quo.

This is where Senator UCHE EKWUNIFE (IYOM) becomes a veritable and ready-to-use vessel of honour to actualise the sanity, developmental outlook, general and inclusive growth of Anambra state. Let us not make the mistake of choosing otherwise!

An unrivalled and unequalled supporter and advocate for inclusive and grassroot governance through the instrumentality of a functional local government system with elected (not appointed)  executive and legislature, distinguished Senator UCHE EKWUNIFE (IYOM) has proven that governance has no gender colorations and connotations.

Gender inclusion in the campaign for the occupant of Agu-Awka government house come 2022 by some unprepared and unscrupulous political actors and naysayers must be rejected by all men and women of good will for the overall interest of ndi Anambra. The capacity and tenacity of purpose and the collective bargain of ndi  Anambra to elect the most audacious and development conscious Governor should not be mortgaged on the alter of Gender biases and malevolence.

Senator UCHE EKWUNIFE has a bold record of achievements and delivery and the preoccupation of ndi Anambra now should be to join hands with UCHE NDI ANAMBRA 2021 for a victorious 2021 governorship election.

Senator UCHE EKWUNIFE is the new paradigm away from the hawks and predators that have usurped and pocketed our state patrimony for their generation unborn.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER; THE REAL REASON WHY JACOB LOVED RACHAEL

 KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

THE REAL REASON WHY JACOB LOVED RACHAEL

Many think that Jacob loved Rachael because she was only beautiful, beauty only attracts a man to a woman but what determines his true love for a woman goes beyond beauty. Rachael was not just beautiful, she was industrious per excellence.

What impressed and attracted Jacob to Rachael was her industriousness. While her brothers and elder sister Leah were at home, Rachael singlehandedly brought her father's flock to the well. That was where Jacob met her for the first time. No sensible man can resist a woman who is beautiful and industrious.

What made a man work for 14 years for the woman he loved and yet felt like he just worked for 14 days? Value! "My man doesn't respect me"  is because you are not a Value-Added-Woman (VAW).

Do you realize that Jacob did not pay Leah's bride price? They gave him Leah as bonus. Because she has no value. This was why Jacob had no respect for her and her children, hence he sent them as first entourage when he was going to meet his angry brother. If you forced yourself on a man, he may never respect you. If he got you cheaply, he will never love you. If you are not adding value to his life, he will never love you.

Even after marriage, Leah was begging and buying the attention of her own husband. Rachael was practically in control of Jacob.

Rachael was a shepherd in the midst of her siblings, a profession meant for men. She was in control of her father's business. This was what glued Jacob to her.

Gen 29:9 "Jacob was still talking with them when Rachel arrived with her father’s flock, for she was a shepherd."

How can boys be in the house and a girl (last daughter of the house) be the one to tend her father's flock and family business? Industriousness!

After Jacob slept with Leah, he still went for Rachael. Sex doesn't keep a man but value and respect does.

Leah had 5 children, Rachael had none, yet Jacob still loved Rachael more than Leah. Having children is good but adding value is better. Don't ever think you can pin a man down with children. If you like give him a nation, if you are not adding value to his life, he will walk away some day.

I'm pleading with our fathers not to raise their daughters in a way they will be liability to a man. Make your daughter a shepherd before her Jacob arrives. Give her a source of livelihood before marriage. If you want her husband to respect her, give her quality education and hopeful future. Don't train her merely because of the bride price you want to collect on her head. Laban wasted the bride price he took for his daughter. But he lived on the flock kept by his daughter even after she was married out.

This is why many men fall for their ugly hardworking housemaids than their beautiful house wife. We indirectly train our housemaids to be industrious while we train our daughters to be lazy and dependants. Future will tell.

Rachael respected Jacob at first sight. Then Jacob loved her. (Eph.5:22) That is the formula, not the reverse.

Be a Value-Added-Woman and your man will Love you

NEVER MOCK THESE 3 SETS OF PEOPLE!

1. Never mock your HUSBAND:

2. Never mock your FATHER

3. Never mock a true SERVANT OF GOD:

Your husband is the head of your family. This is God's order.

Mocking him is defying the laws of God.

Micah mocked David her husband. *She called him a " vain fellow shamelessly uncovering himself". Her womb was closed. She never had a child for David.

When you begin to call your husband names, you are in for serious trouble.

When you mock your husband, it will adversely affect the innocent children.  (Read 2 Samuel 6)

2. Never mock your FATHER:

The Bible is very clear and explicit. Reuben went to sleep with his father's concubine and he ended up with a curse. This is mockery.

Absalom chased his father away from the throne. He died unceremoniously.

Whatever you do to bring shame to your father is mockery.

Mothers, never instigate your children against their father. It will be too dangerous for them.

Whatever disagreements you have with their father stops with you. Do not extend it.

Remember, the Bible only talks about the Father's Blessing. Let the heart of their father bless the children.

Malachi 4:6 says... whosoever separates children from their father, upon them shall be a curse. (NLT)

If you are guilty of this, please humble yourself and go and make things right with your father. If you don't, life will be a struggle for you. Be wise.

3. Never mock a true SERVANT OF GOD: Some youths came out of nowhere and began to chant a mockery song against Elisha.

They were torn into pieces by bears.

I met an elderly man in Benin who shared his experience.

He said, on the morning Archbishop Benson Idahosa's death was announced, he was so excited because he hated the man with passion.

He said he sent for two of his friends and they began to toast to Archbishop's death.

While still making noise and bantering in his sitting room, some people ran into his house and told him a gravel tipper had just knocked down his son on his way to lectures at Uniben. The young undergraduate died on the spot.

The elderly man in his seventies said..... 'I have learnt never to mock a true servant of God'.

I have a praying group. One of the women there approached me to come lead the husband to Christ on his death bed.

In humility, the man surrendered his life to Jesus and there was an aura of peace on his embattled face.

Before he breathed his last, he said...... "All my life, I have mocked servants of God.

We are 5 friends and all of them died this way. I am the last of them but now I have made peace with God"

Never join anyone to mock true servants of God.

Job said, what I do not know, I searched out. This is the wisdom of great people. Wise people do not despise SPIRITUAL DIGNITARIES.

Share to HELP address these issues plaguing this generation.

HOW MUCH DOES A CUP OF HATRED COST?!!!

I never knew it was that costly.

I wanted to know the cost of HATRED, so I decided to branch to a shop where it's being sold.

As a good businessman who was looking for a buyer, the sales man rushed out to ask what I wanted.

I told him I wanted just a cup of hatred, and then he smiled and asked if I can afford it.

'How much does a cup cost?' I asked?! Hmmmmm! He took in a deep breath, then started:

👉🏼 It will first of all take away your inner peace.

👉🏼 It will cost you incurable worries.

👉🏼 It will eat up your heart.

👉🏼 You will be deeply bitter whenever you set your eyes on the person you hate.

👉🏼 When others are celebrating him or her, you will always be looking for why he or she doesn't deserve it.

👉🏼 You will become so weak and tired of seeing the person.

👉🏼 Whenever he or she laughs, you will cry.

👉🏼 While others are busy planning their future, you will be busy looking for how to pull him or her down.

👉🏼 The Spirit of God will leave you and you will become the temple of devils where demons reside.

👉🏼 You will begin to have different health issues like High blood pressure, diabetics, stroke, cancer, liver disease, kidney disease, etc, as long as you drink from the cup of hatred, bitterness, grudge, unforgiveness, malice, Anger, Jealousy, envy, resentment. Worse still, prayers or drugs cannot help much because you have disobeyed the natural and supernatural laws.

👉🏼 You will die before your time and go to hell.

The seller was still counting what a cup of hatred will cost me, when I shunned him,  realizing how EXPENSIVE hatred is.

I left because I knew deep down I could not afford it.

I refuse to pay such a huge amount when I can LOVE so easily and cheaply.

Brethren, don't allow anybody to take away your joy and sell or give you hatred.

Avoid gossips, bitterness, anger, etc because a lot of times, it is what you hear about somebody that breeds hatred.

Don’t die before your time.

Stay safe and be blessed.  Advice from someone that cares .    ROYAL KINGS.

AMID SUSTAINED INVECTIVES BY DETRACTORS, SENATOR EKWUNIFE'S ACCEPTABILITY CONTINUES TO RISE

AMID SUSTAINED INVECTIVES BY DETRACTORS, SENATOR EKWUNIFE'S ACCEPTABILITY CONTINU TO RISE

By Kingsley Ubani

Just like hope is the last thing that dies in a man before his actual death, in politics, propaganda is the last resort of losEkwunife

Currently, there is growing tension occasioned by the upcoming Governorship election in Anambra State with Aspirants who believe that they have what it takes to succeed the incumbent Governor of the State, Chief Willie Obiano throwing their hearts to the ring to contest the 2021 gubernatorial election.

Among the different political parties that are jostling for the treasured seat of Agu Awka, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have receieved arrays of Aspirants who believe that they have what is takes to govern the State.

On the list of these PDP Aspirants is Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) whose entrance into the governorship race seems to have unsettled many Aspirants across political parties majorly because of her grassroots reach and her people-focused approach in politics and governance.

Many people, the Senator's critics inclusive, will agree that the Senator has since her entrance into the political stage remained a force to be reckoned with and a rallying point for Nigerian women who are usually written off when it comes to politics.

Senator Ekwunife's political journey, just like any worthwhile activity have had its share of successes and trials. However, her relevance in the political arena till date can be traced to the grace of God and her consistent, practical belief that power belongs to the people.

While some describe Ekwunife as a dogged Amazon, many agree that she is a political asset that adds value to every political equation. Those of us who are privileged to work closely with her understand that the relevance and influence she enjoys stem from her ability to touch the lives of people using instruments within her disposal both as a citizen and a public officer.

Since her declaration to contest the Anambra Governorship race on the 18th of June 2020, Senator Ekwunife has taken her message to party executives across the State, Local Government and Ward levels. I doubt if there is any Aspirant in the PDP who has engaged more with the party executives than Senator Ekwunife. An act that depicts her belief that power belongs to the people.

Amid all these, one thing is evidential. Senator Ekwunife has reinvigorated the party structures in the State with her constant meetings with party executives and consistent engagements with relevant stakeholders of the party.

Immediately after her formal declaration on June 18 and her subsequent meeting with Aguata and Anaocha LGA and Ward Executives, Ekwunife hosted a meeting where she met with the Ward Chairmen of the 326 Wards in the State. This was followed by series of meetings with the Ward Women Leaders, Ward Secretaries, Ward Deputy Chairmen and Ward Youth Leaders. Each of these meetings had the LGA Chairmen, Deputy Chairmen, Women Leaders, Secretaries and Youth Leaders in attendance. She equally took the message of her intention to run for Governor to the Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu led State Executive Committee of the party.

In her usual style of constant political engagement, Senator Ekwunife again last Saturday hosted the Local Government Chairmen and Ward Chairmen of the party to a meeting to restate her commitment to the ideals of the party and ask for the support of the party executives towards her governorship ambition. The event for many who witnessed it can best be described as one of the liveliest political gatherings in recent times. The Senator hosted party executives to a banquet and offered them the opportunity to interact with her, and chart a way forward for the party in the State. At the meeting, party executives danced to the stress relieving beats of the DJ who entertained them with trending hits. It was indeed a family affair filled with fun, dance and positive engagements. The event ended with party executives assuring the Senator of their support.

The recent spate of propaganda against Senator Ekwunife is only a sign that in her is a contender whom many of her opponents have seen that her growing influence and acceptance by party faithfuls and the generality of Ndi Anambra unsettle their own ambition. This has forced some of them to take the last resort as I stated earlier in the introductory paragraph.
