Senator Teslim Folarin

The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Teslim Folarin, cast his vote on Saturday for the presidential and national assembly elections.

Naija News reports that the Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District voted at Ward 5, Polling Unit II, in Idi Ose, Akanran, in the Ona Ara local government area of Oyo state.

Folarin is the top major contender against the incumbent Governor of the state, Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Makinde and his wife, Tamunominini, exercised their civic responsibility earlier at the Polling Unit [PUU08] in Ward 11, Army Children Primary School 1, Ibadan northeast.

Addressing journalists briefly after voting, Makinde, who belonged to a faction of the PDP popularly known as the G5 governor, said the ongoing exercise was “seamless”.

“It’s going really okay. The accreditation process was seamless; people are conducting themselves very well. I think democracy has come to stay in Nigeria,” Makinde said earlier.

Makinde who is seeking re-election, is alongside members of the five aggrieved PDP governors (The G5), having an unsettled issue with the national body of the country’s main opposition party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
